I
have really surprised myself with the outfits Ive achieved.
I hadnt sewn for 20 years when I first came here
I was working and my family were growing up and Ive
learnt lots of new skills. Ive made jackets, trousers,
skirts, blouses and now Im learning to do pattern cutting
~ Pauline
The
fitting and the finish are the really important parts of each
garment, and being able to buy the fabric and patterns here
and all the haberdashery bits is a bonus. But most of all, its
Sues lovely personality and professionalism that gives
us all inspiration
~ Mary
Unless
you are shown, it is difficult to understand. The first piece
of fabric I bought in I showed Sue and she explained that it
was actually curtain material! So the first thing I learned
was that you cant pick any fabric. I have now made a skirt
for myself, a dress and a stretch top and I feel I am getting
on quite well. I love the latest sewing machines so much that
Ive bought one for myself. I do look forward to it every
week as Im currently on maternity leave and have two children
all day and this is my night off, its me time
~ Claire
I
have always sewn, my mother sewed and we made everything. I
love making jackets, all the detail, I like a challenge. I also
love Harris Tweed. Its my special day when I come here,
I can be me its a sort of release and Im not the
only one who feels like that. When my husband died my family
said you must keep sewing and it has been my lifesaver. I wouldnt
be the person I am now if I didnt come here
